The more Viking focused on De Havilland Canada parts manufacturing, the more its knowledge of these aircraft increased, leading the Maintenance Repair Organization (MRO) to specialize in Turbo Beaver conversions and extensive rebuild projects on De Havilland Canada aircraft.
Several aircraft have been through Viking's hangar doors in one form or another through the years, but two MRO projects stand out more than any others during the course of Viking's history.
In 2001, Viking's De Havilland experience and core capabilities were rewarded with the major rebuild contract on Canadian aviation legend Max Ward’s Twin Otter, C-FWAH. A few years later, in 2007, Viking completed what is arguably the most notable of all its Turbo Beaver conversions with delivery of "Olivia", C-GODH.
While these aircraft may be just two of the many examples of Viking's craftsmanship and modification expertise, they both represent Viking's continued commitment to the De Havilland Canada legacy.
Viking's April 2020 calendar is now ready for download. Here you can see the incredible photos submitted by our aircraft enthusiasts and supporters, as well as archival footage of events that have helped shape our organization. Each month a new page of the calendar is released, until December 2020, when you will have collected the full 12 months.
Over our 50 years in business, Viking has a lot of stories to tell. From our humble beginnings as a maintenance and aircraft repair company, to our purchase of the original type certificates of the Twin Otter, and everything in between, we're proud to be a part of Canada's aviation history.
