Floatplanes are a type of seaplane, and have floats (or pontoons) mounted underneath their fuselage to act as landing gear.

Yes, some newer Twin Otter aircraft do have a wire running from the top of the cockpit to the top of the tail, as do some legacy Twin Otter aircraft. That wire is a high-frequency (HF) antenna, which allows the flight crew to use an HF radio.

Viking offers tours of our corporate headquarters at the Victoria International Airport by appointment only, and public tours are not currently offered at the Calgary aircraft assembly facility.
