Summary of Functions:
Primarily, the QA Specialist will maintain the Internal and External Audit schedules and the Corrective Action System, as well as overseeing Software QA by acting as a liaison with Viking software developers/suppliers.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for maintaining the Company Internal Audit Schedule (including the creation of the annual audit schedule and performance of audits);
Responsible for maintaining the Company Corrective & Preventive Action Systems (including documenting, tracking and verifying taken actions as well as assisting personnel to resolve issues, monitor Corrective Action data for trends, and improve the Corrective Action System);
Responsible for initiating improvement projects to resolve system issues identified through Internal Audits and/or Corrective Action Systems;
Provision of support to ensure the integrity of Process Verification processes;
Responsible for the maintenance of Quality Documents assigned to this role and other relevant Company documents to ensure currency of content and the effective distribution of documents;
Provision of support for Supplier Quality Assurance Audits;
Assist Software Engineering groups (internal and external) to ensure software quality requirements (i.e., RTC-DO178B) are met prior to submitting software projects for certification;
Other duties as assigned by the QA Audit & Compliance Lead.
Organizational Relationships:
Reports to the QA Audit & Compliance Team Lead. Works closely with Area Managers and Supervisors via Internal Audits and Corrective Actions. The QA Specialist shall also work closely with software engineering development teams.
Experience and/or Educational Requirements:
B.Sc. or equivalent in an engineering discipline is preferred;
Certified Quality Engineer, and/or Certify Quality Auditor, is preferred;
5-10 years of experience in quality assurance with progressively increasing levels of responsibility and demonstrated leadership roles;
Familiarity with RTCA-DO-178B and FAA software regulations is preferred;
Extensive knowledge of MS Office products;
Proven Project Management skills are a definite asset;
Familiarity with Enterprise/Material Resource Planning software is an asset;
Capable to meet deadlines;
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to resolve conflicts;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Physical Requriements:
The requirement of the Quality Assurance Specialist position includes: 20/20 (corrected) vision, hearing and speaking abilities; and the ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
